Water Island is the 4th. and smallest- and most peaceful- of the U.S. Virgin Islands, located just a short ferry ride from St. Thomas. With no crowds, no traffic lights, and only two restaurants, it offers a rare blend of accessibility and low-key seclusion.

Welcome to your island home away from home. Getting to Water Island is simple and part of the adventure!
Water Island sits just across the harbor from St. Thomas and is reached only by a short ferry ride from Crown Bay Marina or a private boat transfer.
Step 1 — Fly into St. Thomas (STT)
Arrive at Cyril E. King Airport.
Outside the airport you’ll find:

Ask your driver to take you to:
Crown Bay Marina (Water Island Ferry dock)
Taxi time: ~8 minutes
Important: We strongly recommend booking flights that arrive no later than 3:30 PM to allow ample time to catch the ferry.
Step 2 — Take the Ferry to Water Island
Board the Water Island Ferry at Crown Bay.

If you arrive early and need to wait, La Marina Bar & Restaurant is directly in front of and just steps from the Water Island ferry dock — a perfect place to relax with a drink or bite while you wait.
If Your Flight Is Delayed
If you miss the last scheduled 6:00 PM ferry, you will need to arrange:

A private after-hours ferry trip or

Private boat transportation
This can be coordinated in advance through
Water Island Property Management.
Step 3 — Meet & Greet on Water Island
You will be greeted at the dock by Rachael or Doug Ackley who will:

Escort you to the property

Provide your villa and island orientation
Please text them as you board the ferry so they can meet you on arrival.

Step 4 — Transportation on Water Island
There are no taxis or rideshare services on Water Island.
A golf cart rental is essential and should be reserved prior to arrival. We are happy to assist with arrangements.

From airport arrival to Villa Serena, the journey typically takes 45–60 minutes.
